Entrepreneur’s Wife Lesson 6

“Then the Lord answered me and said, “Write the vision And engrave it plainly on [clay] tablets So that the one who reads it will run.” Habakkuk 2:2

Do you know your spouse’s vision for their business?

When my husband told me about opening his own catering company, I was excited. I knew he had been working on perfecting his menu, and I knew his food was great. The one thing, I didn’t know was how he was going to get from where he was to where he is now.

I am more of a planner than I actually realize. I like to plan ahead to ensure every “T” is crossed and every “i” is dotted. So knowing his vision was very important to me. As his helpmate, I wanted to assist him in reaching his goals. Because a win for him was and is a win for our family.

Now my decision to be in the trenches with him is a personal decision. You may not be able to work side by side with your spouse due to various reasons; however, that doesn’t mean you should be oblivious to his vision. On the contrary, you should be even more aware of it.

Here are a few ways to remain up to date on your spouse’s vision:

  1. Read their business plan.

  2. Ask questions about what is currently going on.

  3. Assist with the day to day operations of the business. This can be as simple as filing paperwork, answering calls, responding to emails, updating the business website or making social media posts.

The support you provide your spouse means a lot to them. Remember, their success is also your success. Pray daily for clarity on business deals and for God to open doors of opportunity. Declare and decree the finances coming in to the business. And most importantly, pray for your husband. Pray for strength and Godly wisdom over him.
